So much buzz about hiring more black coaches in the NFL because about 47% of the players are black. Every owner wants to win the big enchilda ( Super Bowl ) so they want the best coach out there; THEY DON'T CARE WHAT COLOR THEY ARE. So, what has ' diversity ' cost some NFL owners ? The numbers speak for themselves. With the exception of Mike Tomlin of Steeler fame , ( he had a 12-4 regular season, great job ) here are the regular season records of the rest of the black NFL head coaches this year : 49's------7 wins, 9 losses ( ok, ok, Singletary took over mid to late season ) Chiefs : 2 wins, 14 losses. Browns-----4 wins, 12 losses. Bengals-----4 wins, 12 losses. Drumroll please: Bears-----9 wins, 7 losses. Now ask all the whiny pundits ( you may have a tough time getting hold of Sir Charles out in Scottsdale, try the AA Hotline ) what they think of these numbers, I'm sure you will hear the usual excuses....( not given enough time, upper management undermined their efforts, owner was too cheap, ect. ) As an aside; why do 99 % + of the arrests and criminal charges that occur in the NFL happen to black players ( and former black players ) ? As a ' pundit ' for diversity; I would be more concerned with THAT statistic. Here's a suggestion: Put Michael Vick, ' Pac-Man ' Jones, Deon Sanders, Michael Irving and possibly Plaxico Burress on a search committee to interview and screen potential blacks for head coaching positions in the NFL; it certainly couldn't get any worse. ( I have to go now to get ready for my onslaught of hate mail........... )
